I think there is an edit limit here? I can reply to
your initial response since it was sent to my email before it vanished.

To answer your deleted main question which was:
"I am stuffing my face with at least 1400 calories per day (and I'm a
female, so that's not a huge restriction here) and yet I lose 6 pounds.
How do you explain this if there isn't anything to low-carb eating?"

That is simply a (severe) calorie deficit.
* The average female needs just under 2000 calories per day to NOT lose
weight, so at 1400 you are already minus 600 calories straight off the
bat.
* Now if we include the fact that you exercise this number
becomes even greater as exercise burns calories. The average female
burns roughly 100 calories per weight training session
* Finally you have to include the thermic effect of food (i.e how many calories can
you body utilize from food). Carbohydrates is roughly 90% while protein
is roughly only 70%. Thus if you are eating mostly protein instead of
carbs you are probably burning another 300-400 calories from the thermic
effect of food

[1400-2000] - [100+400] = 1,100 caloric deficit per day

....this isn't rocket science. Now I am glad your low carb diet is working well
for you and I always recommend people eat a high protein diet. However
please don't tell highly experienced physique athletes such as the op
who are MUCH more knowledgeable than you to make corrections about their
information.

Re: How to Deal with Hunger During Intermittent Fasting: Leangains

Why did you delete my response? I'm actually stronger than I was a few weeks ago, because I eat a high amount of protein and I do strength exercises 2x a week.

I am not saying the law of thermodynamics isn't at work here, but it's obviously working very differently than conventional formulas would suggest. I am stuffing my face with at least 1400 calories per day (and I'm a female, so that's not a huge restriction here) and yet I lose 6 pounds. How do you explain this if there isn't anything to this low-carb 'fad' diet? A calorie counting diet with the exact same calories with more carb intake would not produce anywhere near as good of a result (I know, I tried it - I lost 1 pound per week tops... not to mention I was DYING of hunger and suffering because of the carbs).

Re: How to Deal with Hunger During Intermittent Fasting: Leangains

No YOU need a correction Katie as your entire post is full of fad diet nonsense

1. You can never stop burning fat regardless of carbs. Your body constantly burns fat. It is merely the ratio of fat burning to fat gaining that changes based on calorie intake.

2. Low carbs does NOT force your body to burn more fat... Inefficient calories does (i.e the basic laws of thermodynamics). A low carbs diet is merely just an easy way to lower calories consumed per day.

3. Carbs needed to knock you out of ketosis varies from person to person. Ketosis is nothing special btw it does NOT increase fat loss over time.

4. Lowering carbs and increasing protein will generally make you lose more weight to the thermic effect of food (in other words, you are simply eating less calories)

5. Carbs are not bad for you. Get off the anti-carb bandwagon.

Re: How to Deal with Hunger During Intermittent Fasting: Leangains

Low carbs don't drop your ketosis... actually... it's the opposite. When you have a significant amount of carbs, it tells the body, "Hey, look! Carbs are back! I can stop burning fat now and switch to carbs!" The whole idea around a low-carb diet is to get you fat burning as often as possible - forcing your body to burn fat. For a healthy person, I don't think 100g of carbs is that bad, but if you're trying to lose weight (which is what I am doing), I've dropped my carbs to 40g per day. I'm losing 3.8-5 pounds per week while doing 16-8 IF. I may be an outlier, but other people doing the low carb thing with IF experience the same results. When I am happy with my body fat %, I will up the carbs a bit, but not right now. And if you're sedentary, I don't even understand the reason why you even need that many carbs.

I found with protein and fat, I don't even notice the first 12 hours of my fast. For me, the last 4 hours can be a bit difficult, but I've only been doing this for 1.5 months, so I would imagine I will get better at it over time (In fact, hunger used to come into play a lot sooner than it is now). I was 225 pounds on April 6th, and I am 202.8 this morning on May 10th. Something tells me I am not getting knocked out of ketosis by my low carbs...

For me - and a lot of people - a lot of carbs cause sugar ups and downs, and they promote intense cravings for carbs every 3 hours. This is the truth on why a lot of people get fat - they are carb addicted, because they learned since grade school that grains and carbs were healthy for you. It doesn't take much either... breakfast bagel/wrap, a sandwich for lunch, and rice or lentils or beans or potatoes for dinner... plus you gotta count those snacks in between that the carbs really entice you to eat! Carbs are so bad for many, many people, and are the cause of diabetes and other heart-related diseases.

You should make a correction.

Re: Creatine And Alcohol – One Drink Can’t Hurt, Right?

Hi, Drinking once a week on Saturdays, where I will stay away from workout, and creatine intake of 24 hrs will harm internal system ? My assurances is that nobodies too fat to do jiu-jitsu. You DON’T need to lose weight to do jiu-jitsu. You DON’T need to be in better shape to do jiu-jitsu. Just start going. You will get in better shape. You will be starting your new, healthy lifestyle, and in the long run you will be glad that you started earlier rather than later. Just accept this and keep coming. You need only to TRY, TAP, and KEEP COMING. This is the magic formula that will help you earn respect. I knew that I couldn’t make it through a whole warm up, but I did my best. And the same thing to thin people. Like my friend refuse come and train with me because she thoughts that she is too weak. But my first coach encourage her (after me) and now we both blue belts. I still appreciate my first coach and keep following him on social media. And was very happy knowing that his club cooperates with wealthy reproductive medicine center Biotexcom. They participated and won in numerous tournaments abroad.
